How do you feel about the results of the election?
I think we got what we asked for. Literally. For years this culture has been turning our backs on the Truth about God. And God has turned them over to a strong Obama delusion.
Romans 1
18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Though they know God’s decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
I think trials are ahead of us, and we are to rejoice in them. But I also think judgment begins at the household of God (1 Peter 4:17). There are many Christians who voted for Obama, believing he will do what is best for those needing government assistance. Ignoring the fact that he's not against killing them either, whether unborn, born alive but unwanted, or having acquired a profound disability.
Many more, such as myself, did not speak out very loudly. Fear of governemnt retribution and not offending anyone, perhaps, I don't know, has kept pastors and others from speaking agaisnt this man's and his fellow believers' agendas- his anti-life ideals- from the pulpit and other public places.
In addition I've kept my head in the sand because it's been too painful to look at. My prayers have been few and dry in this arena.
People have called him 'The One', 'Messiah'. They have written hymns about him and praise songs for him. Though he claims to be a Christian, he doesn't stop them. His ideas are clearly socialistic, and while socialism itself is not evil, when led by a man who allows himself to be worshiped, much evil can come.
1 Peter 4
12Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of gloryand of God rests upon you. 15But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. 16Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. 17For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18And
"If the righteous is scarcely saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?"19Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.
What is the quickest false assumption people make about you?
Submitted by JJ.
Well, there are two, both based on the observation by others that I am quiet (too quite for some, who wish to change that part of me). That is, I don't contribute much to conversations, especially when first meeting someone.
The first assumption people make upon my lack of verbal contribution is that I am not quite as intelligent as others in the room are. Learning to shove my pride aside, I'm not too bothered by that in itself, the thought that I'm not as intelligent as others. Though it's not true- I am of average intelligence- did I have low intelligence, that wouldn't be any kind of moral failure on my part, and I do have other gifts.
But what does bother me about the false assumption of slow wit is the way many who believe I posses it treat me. I'm patronized, talked down to, and even made fun of. This makes me very sensitive to others who actually do have lower intelligence than others who are also patronized, excluded form conversations, and made fun of , and I become absolutely infuriated when I see adults with low intelligence referred to as 'children in a grown up body'! Err.
Okay, righteous indignation, go away for now. :)
Oddly enough, the second assumption, also based on my quietness, is that I must be very deep. 'Still waters run deep', they tell me.
Not so. I'm not sitting at the table with everyone else during times of social interaction, contemplating the philosophical ramifications of what everyone else is saying. I'm not wisely waiting for the best time to put my two sense in based on things like pertinence to the conversation or comedic timing.
I'm usually sitting at the table trying to comprehend the confusing social conversation rules of interaction, wondering when it's appropriate and how to contiribute my relatable story. Many times I just have trouble finding words to voice- I am not a verbal person. I'm also very shy and insecure about the worth of my contribution. But mostly, during conversation, I just don't have anything to say! Really.
I'm not deep. I'm not slow witted. I'm just not verbal.

What is one thing you MUST do before you go to bed at night?
take off my socks. now you know.
Awhile back there was a QotD question about what cliche or phrase do you wish weren't used anymore- something like that.
Well, I thought of one this morning on the drive to work. I heard the phrase, 'just a crutch', used in a song, and I cringed.
I do not like the phrase 'just a crutch'. A crutch is a good thing! Literally speaking, without crutches, people who have difficulty walking would be left crawling on the ground or left to sit on the sidelines. 'Just a crutch' is yet another term that tempts those with physical disabilities to feel different than others, prejudged, and overlooked.
Spiritually speaking, I feel offended by that term, as it is used to describe everything from religion to addictions, etc, in criticism that those who depend on things like that should instead pull themselves up by their bootstraps and stand on their own, in endorsement of that wonderful ideology of self-sufficiency. However, those of us who utilize 'crutches' such as the above do so because we can't stand on our own. We need something to help us walk. We just need to learn to use the right kind of crutch.
The crutch of religion or addiction must be laid down, not so we can because more self-reliant but so we can become more dependent on Jesus.
Oh, my goodness, I'm actually going to say it- Jesus is my crutch, my walker, my wheelchair, and my gurney. Ah, that's too cheesy to post. :-D
Have you ever been skinny dipping?
Used to do it all the time. Would take my skinny friends by the ankles and dip them head first into my gravy or whatever sauce I had available, then I'd send them on their way, laughing as they ran into doors and things till they could get the sauce out of their eyes. Course they weren't really my friends after that.
How old were you when you had your first "official" boyfriend or girlfriend? What was he/she like?
4th grade, so 9 or 10. His name was Jason, a tall, blonde, shy kid who smiled a lot and wore glasses. Our relationship consisted of him asking me to 'go out with him', me telling my friends that Jason and I were 'going out', and the two of us mutually breaking up about a day later. The stuff of Jane Austen novels.
What compliment are you most often given?
Oh, you're not that short.
If you could teleport to any place in the world right this second, where would you go?
To the patent office to get a patent for my teleport machine.
