Doctors and judges, against her parents' wishes, refusing care for a child because they judge her to be suffering too much.

Memo from Santa

  • Dec 23, 2007

I received this memo today via email.

Memo from Santa

I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will no longer serve Arkansas, Washington, Georgia, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee , Mississippi , Texas , Ohio , Louisiana, Oklahoma or Alabama on Christmas Eve.

Due to the overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was
renegotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209. As part of the new and better contract, I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies so keep that in mind.

However, I'm certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement, who happens to be my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South Pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls; however, there are a few differences between us.
Differences such as:

1. There is no danger of the Grinch stealing your presents from Bubba
Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and a bumper sticker that reads:
"These toys insured by Smith and Wesson."

2. Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave RC
cola and pork rinds (or a moon pie) on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn't
smoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff, so please have an empty spit can handy.

3. Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flyin' coon dogs instead
of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer one
time, and Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's fireplace.

4. You won't hear "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner, and Blitzen..." when
Bubba Claus arrives. Instead, you'll hear, "On Earnhardt, on Andretti, on
Elliott and Petty."

5. "Ho, Ho, Ho" has been replaced by "Yee Haw" And you also are likely to hear Bubba's elves respond, "I her'd dat"

6. As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus' sleigh does have a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words " Back Off."

7. The usual Christmas movie classics such as” Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown in your negotiated viewing area. Instead, you'll see "Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV" featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state patrol cars crashing into each other.

And Finally,

8. Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd make sure you, the
wife, and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put presents
under the tree.

Sincerely Yours,
Santa Claus

Closet Rebellious Sandi Patti Fan

  • Dec 22, 2007

I have a secret- I'm a closet Sandi Patti fan.  I don't know why I keep it secret.  Wait, yes I do.  I lovingly comment... okay, I make fun of others' enjoyment of such music genres as country and Gaither classics so often, that I am reluctant to give those folks ammo for payback.  Well, if your reading this here's your chance.

When I was 13, 14 or so, my parents relaxed in their rules and started letting us kids listen to the radio.  Shocking, I know.  They frowned on my desire to listen to our city's Contemporary Christian radio station, though; their feeling was that so-called Christian music shouldn't 'have a beat' or use drums.  However, as busy as my parents were at that time in our family history, they turned a blind eye when I began tuning in anyway... I was so rebellious.

During that time, I became a big fan of Sandi Patti.  I loved the clear, sweetness of her voice.  I loved her songs, both the music and lyrics.  She, through her music, seemed to meet me in a really lonely place... of course, I now realize that it wasn't Sandi Patti meeting me, but the One she was singing about trying to do so... but I was a teenager and prone to hero worship.  I'm so glad I'm over that now... hee, hee.

Anyway, I found this video on You Tube.  This song is one of my all time favorites of hers.

Oh, and I like this one, too.  This one'll really give folks ammo.

NEW YORK, Dec. 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation and Priests for Life have jointly announced the establishment of the "International Day of Prayer and Remembrance for Terri Schindler Schiavo, and All of Our Vulnerable Brothers and Sisters" ("Terri's Day"), to be observed each year on March 31, the date of Terri's death.

The purpose of the day, the groups explained, is to foster education, prayer, and activism regarding discrimination against the disabled, and advocacy for people in situations similar to what Terri and her family faced.

Once Upon a Vox Post

Once there was a woman who liked to blog.  She wished she could blog every day, but most days, she just had nothing to say.  Then, one evening, she got the idea to simply write about wanting to blog but having nothing to say!

... it didn't work out very well.

Not Brain Dead

  • Nov 20, 2007

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- Yesterday on This Week, George Stephanopoulos, in an interview with Senator Fred Thompson, commented that Terri Schiavo's autopsy proved she was "brain dead."  The New York Times also reported on this interview, repeating that the autopsy proved Terri was "brain dead."

This is patently false and Terri's family is requesting that the media immediately stop using this offensive and inaccurate expression to describe her condition.
